The Shreveport Airport Authority has named Joseph Dean Goodell as manager of the Shreveport Downtown Airport.

Goodell comes to Shreveport from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Aviation Division in Baton Rouge where he was program manager. Before that, he was an instructor in airport management for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is also a retired U.S. Air Force C-130 pilot.

Goodell has a master's degree in Aviation Management from Embry Riddle University, a master's degree in Management from Webster University in St. Louis, and a bachelor's in psychology from Virginia Tech. Originally from Alexandria, Va., Goodell, has one son: Paul Goodell, a student at North Carolina State University.

The Shreveport Airport Authority manages both Shreveport Regional Airport and the Shreveport Downtown Airport. The Airport Authority consists of a five-person voluntary board appointed on rotating terms by the Mayor of Shreveport, currently Mayor Keith Hightower.
