AMERICAN EAGLE AIRLINES TO ADD NEW SERVICE FROM SHREVEPORT, LA TO CHICAGO O'HARE

(Shreveport, La.)— American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, will add nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Shreveport Regional Airport beginning April 10.

American Eagle will operate round-trip service between the two cities using a 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 jet.

“This service will be American Eagle’s fourth new route to Louisiana over the past 18 months,” said American Eagle President Peter Bowler. “Our service from Shreveport to Chicago will give residents of Northwest Louisiana convenient connections throughout the Midwest, as well as one-stop service to Europe, China and India.”

“This is an important boost to the economy of northwest Louisiana,” said Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.). “In addition to providing new convenience for thousands of travelers, these flights between Shreveport and American Airlines’ major hub in Chicago will open new avenues for commerce linking the region to markets around the country and the world. This and other routes added in the last 18 months demonstrate Louisiana’s increasing role in our domestic and international commercial economy.”

“This is great news for the Shreveport airport and the entire region. Northwest Louisiana is continuing to grow and prosper, and these additional flights will open more doors for economic development,” said Sen. David Vitter (R-La.). “I am thrilled that American Eagle decided to add these flights and hope that they will continue expanding their services to other parts of Louisiana.”

"The City of Shreveport is excited and appreciates American Eagle investing in a new nonstop flight to Chicago because it opens a new gateway to the world throughout the United States and internationally," said Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover. "We ask the community and the region to support this new hub connection so that we can continue to work with American and add more flights in the future."

"This Chicago connection opens the City of Shreveport and the Ark-La-Tex Region to the world,” said C.O. Simpkins, Chairman of the Shreveport Airport Authority. "Chicago O'Hare is a key hub connection for American Airlines and one that we have been working to acquire for a long, long time. Our hard work and dedication have paid off."

American Eagle also has 10 daily nonstop flights from Shreveport to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The airline started service from Dallas/Fort Worth to Lafayette, Monroe and Alexandria, La., in 2006.
