Police arrest one for bank robbery

Police arrested one person following a holdup this morning at Community Bank in the 100 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.

Michael Hodge, 18, of the 1000 block of Babylon is charged with principal to armed robbery. Possibly two or three other suspects believed to have been involved in the robbery are still outstanding.

The robbery occurred at 9:25 a.m. when two black males entered the bank. At least one was armed with a handgun.

The suspects fled the scene, but police were able to capture Hodge at the Spring Lake Apartments. Police also recovered some of the money stolen in the robbery.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 673-7000.
