Police capture alleged serial burglar

A Shreveport man is facing a total of eight counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary for allegedly breaking into homes in the Sunset Acres neighborhood.

Detective Rodney Demery believes Phillip Daniel, 18, of Shreveport is responsible for at least 41 burglaries that have occurred in that area since December.

Daniel was arrested in May for three burglaries and was in custody from May 14 to May 25. After being released on $6,000 bond, he allegedly continued his burglary spree.

Officer Joshua Feliciano caught Daniel breaking into a Sunset Acres church on July 3. He subsequently has been charged with that attempted burglary, as well as five other burglaries. The latest burglary is believed to have occurred June 28.

So far, lawn equipment and entertainment equipment like televisions, VCRs and CD players have been recovered from a local pawn shop. However, police are still working to locate more of the stolen property.
