DARE graduations to feature Miss Louisiana

A woman who could be a role model for most youngsters will be giving some words of advice and encouragement to about 200 students at four elementary schools this week.

Miss Louisiana Faith Jenkins will be the guest speaker at DARE graduations being held Tuesday and Wednesday.

DARE, or Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is taught by the Shreveport Police Department to about 3,000 students in Shreveport each semester.

DARE graduations are a way for the SPD and the children to celebrate the successful completion of the program and reinforce the importance of being drug free.

Miss Louisiana will be speaking at the following graduations:

Tuesday – 9 a.m. Westwood Elementary School, 7325 Jewella.

10:30 a.m. Fairfield Avenue School, 6215 Fairfield.

Wednesday – 9 a.m. Central Elementary, 1627 Weinstock St.

10:30 a.m. Queensborough, 2701 Catherine St.

The contact person at the graduations will be DARE Officer Colette Kelly, who has taught the students who will be graduating at the above schools.
