Citizen to be honored for robbery assistance

Shreveport Police Chief Jim Roberts on Wednesday will present Shreveporter Mark Peters with the Chief’s Appreciation Award for his assistance in apprehending an armed robbery suspect.

Peters and his wife were in Shane’s Acadiana Crawfish on Mansfield Road Sunday afternoon when two men robbed the store of cash.

Peters took off after one of the suspects and detained him until officers could take the suspect into custody. Police arrested a second suspect about 40 minutes later.

Arrested and charged with armed robbery were Columbus Lewis, 18, and Jake Lamar Thomkins Lockett Jr., 20, both of Shreveport.

The award will be presented to Peters at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chief’s Conference Room, located on the first floor of the Shreveport Police Facility.
