Police continue investigation into meth lab

The Louisiana Crime Lab will be at the scene of an Easter Sunday fire that’s believed to have been a methamphetamine lab.

Officials will comb the location in the 500 block of Kirby Place this morning, gathering samples of suspected meth-making products. If the site is still deemed hazardous after the samples are taken, a clean up crew from Jackson, Miss., may be called in to clean it up.

While methamphetamine is made with products that can be bought at local stores, the products combined can be dangerous, so proper safety precautions are a must.

Pending the results of lab tests, three people arrested Sunday following the fire could be charged with additional crimes, including manufacturing and distributing narcotics.

Those arrested on narcotics possession charges were Richard Fowler, 39, Wanda Rowell, 40, and Phillip Chism, 37. Fowler and Rowell were residents at the home where the fire occurred. Chism’s address is listed as Vivian. All three are currently in the Shreveport City Jail.

For interviews or other information, contact Lt. Mark Holley in the Narcotics Bureau, 673-7040.
