Police arrest one, search for another in liquor store homicide

Police arrested a 20-year-old Bossier City man on charges of first-degree murder for the shooting deaths of two men at the Rite Way Liquor Store Tuesday.

Jerome "Doo Doo" Thomas, 20, of the 5900 block of Applegate in Bossier City was booked into the jail about 10 p.m. last night.

Meanwhile, police are searching for a second suspect, Demarein Mims, 18, of the 2900 block of Montana in Shreveport. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Detectives have determined that robbery was the motive in the shooting deaths of 31-year-old Demir Elikara and 68-year-old Cengiz "Sam" Elikara. Both men were found lying on the floor of the liquor store at 1750 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Sam Elikara was pronounced dead at the scene. Demir Elikara died later at LSU Hospital. Both were shot multiple times.

Tips from citizens and Crime Stoppers led police to the suspects.
