Police arrest three for numerous car break-ins

Shreveport Police have arrested three Shreveport men with a rash of auto burglaries that occurred in parking lots during a five-day period.

Jacolby Thomas, 18, Koji Brown, 17, and Robert Merritt (also spelled Merrit), 17, are each charged with 12 counts of burglary for breaking into nine vehicles at the Tinsel Town theater and three vehicles in a lot at 700 Clyde Fant Parkway downtown.

The burglaries took place between Feb. 10 to Feb. 14.

Detectives are looking at 8 to 10 more auto burglaries the suspects may have committed. Police know of other thefts as well, but residents failed to report the crimes to the Shreveport Police Department. With no report, the suspects cannot be charged with those incidents.

If convicted, the suspects face a maximum of $2,000 and 12 years in jail on each count.
