Boy arrested for taking gun to school

A 16-year-old Huntington High School student was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center this morning after officials found a gun hidden in his backpack.

It was unclear how officials knew the student had a gun, but after searching his backpack at 8:40 a.m., police found an unloaded .38 Smith and Wesson.

The boy reportedly was suspended and taken into custody. He is charged with possession of a firearm on school property.
