Man charged with aggravated rape

A 32-year-old Shreveport man has been arrested for the aggravated rape of an 89-year-old woman.

Sampson Colbert is accused of breaking into the woman’s home in the 1900 block of Milam Street and raping her at 4:15 a.m. on June 8.

Colbert was arrested Saturday after evidence recovered at the scene was linked to him.

Police also are looking at Colbert as a suspect in an attempted rape that occurred at another house in the 1900 block of Milam Street. That incident took place Nov. 23 and involved a 78-year-old woman.

Colbert is charged with aggravated rape because of the woman’s age.
