Background Information
|
|
A disparity study will provide the City of Shreveport with the evidence, in accordance with current case law, to determine whether or not, and to what extent, remedial programs for racial or gender preferences or set asides for the purchase of goods and services are appropriate. The objective of a study are:
- To determine the history of the utilization of MBEs and WBEs by the agency
in contracting and procurement opportunities;
- To investigate and describe prevailing practices in the public and private
sectors that have caused und utilization of MBEs and WBEs;
- To determine the availability of minority and women-owned businesses;
- To determine whether race-neutral and gender-neutral programs can redress
the effects of discrimination; and
- To identify the revisions necessary for the agency's M/WBE programs to
meet requirements of court decisions.

ORDINANCE NO. OF 2006
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2006 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS BUDGET AND OTHERWISE PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary to amend the 2006 Capital Improvements Budget to adjust project funding and for other purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Shreveport, in legal session convened, that Ordinance No. 166 of 2005, the 2006 Capital Improvements Budget, be further amended and re-enacted as follows:
In Program A (Buildings and Improvements):
Increase the appropriation for Shreveport Convention Center Hotel and Associated Improvements (03A004) by $300,000. Funding source is Riverfront Development Special Revenue Fund.
Adjust totals and subtotals accordingly.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the remainder of Ordinance 166 of 2005, as amended, shall remain in full force and effect.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that if any provision or item of this ordinance or the application thereof is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions, items or applications of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provisions, items or applications; and, to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared severable.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
