Mayoral Interns For 2008
Stuart Crichton
Stuart Crichton is excited to contribute to the Department of Community
Development for the 2008 Mayor’s Summer Internship Program. He is the son of
Judge Scott Crichton and Susan Crichton. He is a 2005 graduate of Caddo
Magnet High School, where his classmates voted him most likely to succeed.
Stuart recently transferred from Northwestern University of Evanston to
Centenary College, where he will graduate with a business degree and a
second degree in communications with a media-writing component. Stuart won
two college debate tournaments as a member of the Northwestern Debate
Society, the most successful debate program in collegiate history. Last
summer, Stuart entered Middlebury’s Immersion Program, where he spoke only
Arabic for nine weeks.
This summer, he pledges
to bring the same level of dedication and intensity to serving the
community. After Stuart graduates from Centenary in 2010, he will earn a law
degree and masters in business association to promote environmentally and
socially progressive business practices

Angela K. Thomas
Angela K. Thomas is a
23-year-old native of Shreveport, Louisiana. She is the daughter of
Rev. and Mrs. Roy L. Thomas, Sr. After transferring in her senior year
from Dillard University, due to Hurricane Katrina, Angela received her B.A.
in Theatre from Kent State University. She will be beginning her third
and final year at the Brown University/Trinity Repertory Consortium M.F.A.
Acting program this coming fall.

(Elektra) and Polaroid Stories (Persephone/Semele) at Brown/Trinity
Rep, and Zooman and the Sign (Rachel) Dillard University. She thanks
her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for the blessing of being here as an
intern with the city of Shreveport.

Maeghan Davis
I was born and raised in Shreveport, LA and
currently live in New Orleans. I graduated from Centenary in spring 2007
with a Bachelors of Science in Biophysics and minored in Psychology.
I am now completing the Masters of Public
Health Program at the LSUHSC in New Orleans. My concentration is in
Behavioral and Community Health Sciences. My research interests are
infectious diseases and health implications of policy.
After completion of the Public Health Masters,
I plan to pursue a Public Health PhD or attend medical school.

Emily Mourad
Emily Mourad is a 2005 graduate of Glenbrook High School in Minden,
Louisiana. She is currently a senior at Tulane University in New Orleans,
Louisiana. A double major in Communications and Political Science, Emily is
a member of Pi Kappa Sigma Political Science Honors Society, Newcomb College
Senate, Tulane College Republicans, and Chi Omega Fraternity.
In her three years at Tulane University, Emily has served as her freshman
class president, chairman of Newcomb Spring Arts Week, President of Newcomb
College Senate, Campus Activities chairman for Chi Omega Fraternity, and
Secretary of Chi Omega Fraternity. In spring of 2008, Emily was awarded the
Ann Gill Memorial Award for Outstanding Junior for scholarship,
sportsmanship, and contribution to the Tulane community.
In her spare time,
Emily enjoys volunteering with numerous organizations including Habitat
for Humanity, Make-A-Wish Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital.

Allison Saylor
Allison Saylor is currently a senior at
Centenary College majoring in both Political Science and Spanish. Allison
was born and raised in Murphysboro, IL and graduated top in her class from
Murphysboro High School in 2005. Following high school, Allison moved to
Benton, LA, where she currently resides.
At Centenary, Allison is involved in the
Political Science Honors Program and has been named to the Dean’s List. She
is also president of the Centenary College chapter of the Pi Sigma Alpha
Honor Society.
Her interests include spending time with friends and family, traveling,
shopping, and politics. Following graduation, Allison hopes to attend
graduate school to pursue a Masters degree in Public Administration.

Stanisha
Fowler
I am a senior and honor student attending
Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA pursuing a degree in
Business Administration. I graduated from Huntington High in the top twenty
percent of my class.
During high school I was a part of the flag
line, track team and unarmed drill team. I was also involved in Mu Alpha
Theta, Science Scholars Discovery Club, 4-H and Student Council.
When I graduate I plan to move back to
Shreveport and dive into the world of business and corporate finance.

Brandi Andrews
Brandi Racquel Andrews, 21,
is a senior Political Science major at Centenary College of Louisiana. She
is a native of Shreveport and a 2005 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School.
Grounded in volunteerism by endless 4-H projects of interest throughout her
youth, Ms. Andrews currently serves as a youth mentor at Abounding Faith
Temple. She plans to continue her partnership with the City of Shreveport’s
Paint Your Heart Out Campaign and various other city projects.
Ms. Andrews has worked as a
Congressional Staff Intern in Washington D.C. and as a Louisiana House of
Representatives Page in Baton Rouge. Locally, she has worked as a spa
receptionist for My Spa My Way, radio broadcaster for Centenary’s KSCL,
Residence Life Assistant at Centenary College, and personal assistant for
America International Group Representatives.
Ms. Andrews plans to attend
Georgetown Law School in fall 2009 upon graduation of Centenary College. Her
life long goal is to positively impact the world by encouraging others to
make their best better by serving their communities and each other. She
believes all things are possible. Brandi Racquel Andrews is the daughter of
Winzer and Vivian Andrews of Shreveport.

Krystle Cato
Krystle Delviree Cato is a senior at
Grambling State University majoring in mass communications with a
concentration in public relations. While attending Grambling State
University, Cato has been extremely active with many clubs such as the
Thurgood Marshall Club, Spanish Club and the Association of Women in
Communications. She is a resident of Gibsland, Louisiana and also enjoys
volunteering at local schools to serve her community.
Prior to
entering the Mayor’s Summer Internship Program, Cato worked with the Ruston
Convention and Visitor’s Bureau in Ruston, Louisiana and was instrumental in
planning the Louisiana Peach Festival.

Sherika Clay
I am a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.
Currently, I am a senior at LSU at Shreveport. I am majoring in English and
will be graduating next spring. After graduation, I plan on beginning my
career as an Educator in the Caddo Parish School System. Also, I am an
aspiring writer with a National publication of one short story and one poem
in my repertoire. I am a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church located in
the MLK area, where Rev. Eddie Ray Brown, Sr. is pastor.
My future aspirations include furthering my studies and
eventually working in Administration. Ultimately, however, my greatest
accomplishment will be to become Superintendent of the Caddo Parish School
System, so that I am able to actively participate in the lives of all the
students in Shreveport.
