    PURPOSE

To authorize and provide for the waiver of permit and inspection fees for the construction of new homes within the City of Shreveport within a 60 month period following the passage of this resolution, but limited to 100 homes.

    BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as The Fuller Center) has requested that the City of Shreveport waive permit and inspection fees associated with the construction of new homes within the City of Shreveport. The Fuller Center promotes collaborative and innovative partnerships with individuals and organizations in a quest to provide shelter for people in need. The Fuller Center has a five year plan to build 100 new affordable homes for citizens living at or below the poverty level within the City of Shreveport. At least 60 new homes will be in the Allendale community. Substandard housing and blight will be reduced and recipients of new homes will pay City and Parish property tax and have renewed hope and interest in the community in which they reside.

WITHIN THE CITY OF SHREVEPORT WITHIN A 60 MONTH PERIOD

FOLLOWING THE PASSAGE OF THIS RESOLUTION, BUT LIMITED TO 100 HOMES, FOR

THE FULLER CENTER FOR HOUSING OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANA, INC.

AND TO OTHERWISE PROVIDE WITH RESPECT THERETO

BY:

WHEREAS, the City of Shreveport, Department of Operational Services, has received a request to waive the permit and inspection fees associated with the construction of new homes within the City of Shreveport for The Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, this request is not adverse to the public interest of the citizens of the City of Shreveport; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Shreveport in due, legal and regular session convened, that the City of Shreveport is hereby authorized and empowered to waive all permit and inspection fees associated with the construction of new homes in the City of Shreveport within a 60 month period following the passage of this resolution, but limited to 100 homes, for The Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana, Inc.;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if any provision of this resolution or the application thereof is invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions, items, or applications of this resolution which can be given effect without invalid provisions, items, or applications and to this end the provisions of this resolution are hereby declared severable.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all ordinances or resolutions or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
