This resolution will authorize the Mayor to make application with and receive funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice. If approved, the funds from the Predictive Policing Demonstration and Evaluation Program Grant will be used to design and test a predictive model for tactical crime based on a group of leading indicators to be used for the prevention of tactical crime by district.

RESOLUTION NO. _________ OF 2009
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO MAKE APPLICATION WITH AND RECEIVE FUNDING FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JUSTICE FOR PREDICTIVE POLICING DEMONSTRATION AND EVALUATION GRANT AND TO OTHERWISE PROVIDE WITH RESPECT THERETO.
BY:
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice has invited the Shreveport Police Department to file an application for grant funds under the National Institute of Justice Predictive Policing Demonstration and Evaluation Program and
WHEREAS, the award, if approved will be for a total of $67,689 and requires no cash match by the City of Shreveport. The funds will used to design and test a predictive model for tactical crime based on a group of leading indicators to be used for the prevention of tactical crime by district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Shreveport, in due, regular and legal session convened, that it does hereby authorize the execution by Cedric B. Glover, Mayor, those grant documents necessary to apply and receive funding established within the program administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if any provision or item of this Resolution or the application thereof is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions, items or applications of this Resolution which can be given affect without the invalid provisions, items or applications and to this end the provisions of this Resolution are hereby declared severable.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all Resolutions or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
